Exchange Cams

The exchange cams use smoke and mirrors to monitor the exchange rates and even allow you to see the exchange square LIVE (which is kind of neat, no?) The concept here is for people to check that the coast is clear before exchanging. Please check out the survival tips at the bottom of the page (but only if you are terminally stupid.) The rates change at midnight (game time) every night and are captured here just after midnight every night. You can view the exchange LIVE by using the view cam links (especially helpful to find the location of the moving one in the gay frozen north).

Survival Tips

Exchange thieves have been around much longer than the cams and they are VERY good at what they do. Although this stuff seems mindblowingly obvious to most, we at the BoW have been blamed for certain people's stupidity. People who decide to hang around a PvP exchange on a very, very low exchange rate day will get robbed with or without the cams. So consider these tips a sort of disclaimer because there is no patch for stupidity.

• Don't be tempted by very low or very high rates. The sneaky thieves have had ways of monitoring exchange rates since the day they were invented. They will know well before you do that the rates are good and be laying in wait for the fools who try to make huge profits during such an obvious time.
• Try to avoid the Gothador "rush hour". The rush hour is when all the Americans are awake and playing. More people around means more chance of getting robbed.
• NEVER do both of the above at the same time. The rates are excellent, its the busy time of day in Gothador and you choose then to exchange? You might as well just drop the PP in Centra and be done with it.
• Where possible, only exchange a few PP at a time. I find 100 at a time to be a nice amount. Go to the exchange, click the x20 button 5 times, cult recall. Don't wait for the screen to refresh between clicks either. As long as your clicks aren't too rapid, you don't need to wait for the screen to refresh. Doing so just means you're exposed and in danger for longer.
• If you can, use a vial before you go. It won't save you from the professional theives if they pounce on you but with enough HP, you might get enough of a warning to allow you to cult recall.
• Don't be an idiot. The days when the rates are so good you can make an absolute killing on the exchange are the days every theif or would-be theif and his dog will be hunting the exchanges. I know this point has already been covered but it is of such fundamental importance and so staggeringly obvious that it is worth mentioning twice. We at the BoW can't be held responsible for people being idiots.
